PA Ranking for Best Job in Healthcare

The problem with being #1 is that there is nowhere else to go except down. Physician assistant fell in the rankings for best jobs in healthcare according the U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2020.

PA came in at #2 for best job in healthcare for 2020, after being ranked #1 in 2019. The top spot for 2020 went to dentist, which had a higher average salary compared to PAs and a lower unemployment rate. PA had a better ranking than Nurse Practitioner, which came in at #4 for best jobs in healthcare.

Unemployment rate was listed at 1.1% for PAs, an increase from .8% in 2019; which could be part of the reason it was out ranked by dentist, with an unemployment rate of .9%.

The rankings are based on important aspects of a job; such as salary, job satisfaction and unemployment rate. The rankings are based on seven components; each component is scored, and a single weighted average score is given to each job.

The salary information is based off the BLS report and showed an average PA salary of $108,610.

Even though PA slipped in the rankings from #1 to #2 it is still ranked as one of the best jobs in the U.S. With growing salaries and low unemployment it is still a great career.
