U.S. News Ranks Physician Assistant as #3 Best Job for 2020
PA is the #3 best job in 2020 according to U.S. News & World Report. This is the second year in a row where PA was ranked as the third best job. It was outranked by dentist and software developer as #2 and #1 best jobs.
The rankings are based on important aspects of a job; such as salary, job satisfaction and unemployment rate. The rankings are based on seven components; each component is scored, and a single weighted average score is given to each job.
Salaries for the rankings are based on the median salary from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The salary is translated from a dollar amount to a numerical score with a maximum score of ten points.

The average salary for PAs in 2018 was listed at $108,610; with the highest 25 percent making $127,220 that year. The average salary from the BLS is similar compared to other PA salary reports and differences can be attributed to techniques in gathering the data.
Although salary increases have tapered off the past couple of years, Physician Assistant continues to be an attractive career for many, and this ranking shows why.
