PA Salary Up According to AAPA Salary Report

4.5% Increase in PA Salary in 2021

After a down year for PA salaries in 2020, a new report from the AAPA shows that PA salaries rebounded in 2021. Compensation for PAs increased by 4.5% to $115,000.

The AAPA is the national organization that represents PAs. They conduct a PA salary survey that usually has a response rate of about 10% of certified PAs every year. They recently started a digital version available for free to any AAPA members, with the full PDF report published in July.

Although the response rate is much lower than other PA salary reports, including the NCCPA report, it is the most comprehensive. It included a breakdown of PA salaries into the base, bonus, and hourly ranges. It also gives an analysis of wages by state and specialty.

The AAPA salary report can be a helpful tool when evaluating a compensation package. However, it would be best to look at multiple accounts to corroborate the data. It is essential to look at the total benefits package and decide what benefits are crucial to you. Medical and retirement benefits can have an extensive range and make one offer more appealing, depending on your life circumstances.
