2020 Update to PA-Cents Recommendations

Recommendations from PA-Cents

I try to be open about recommendations on products or services that I truly believe in. Some of these services are partnered with PA-Cents, but I believe they are good services. Below are recommended books, equipment and other services that have been discussed in previous posts.

Services

For student loan refinancing I recommend starting with LeverEdge. It is a collective bargaining initiative that utilizes the power of group buying to negotiate lower interest rates on student loan refinancing. Essentially, it’s a volume discount. They unite large groups of alumni and then negotiate with private lenders on their behalf to get PAs a better deal on student loans than any single borrower could get by themselves.

If you’re looking to refinance your student loans, it’s always best to check with multiple lenders. Although, LeverEdge gives you the advantage of collective bargaining, you can check rates with multiple lenders at once with Credible and use these rates to compare your options.

PA School Books

If you’re in PA school I recommend not buying books, to help save money. Instead, rent or use the library. However, I’d recommend purchasing the following books as I used them a lot and referenced them once I was out of school.

PA School Equipment

PA school tools – As with books in PA school I don’t recommend buying all the equipment. The one personal tool that I’ve continued to use is the Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope. I don’t think it’s necessary to purchase an otoscope/opthalmoscope, but make sure you get a quality one such as the Welch Allyn set, if you do.

Shoes for the OR – Check out this post for recommendations on shoes to wear in the OR.
